Device groups can be used to group devices together. The grouping can be done by various options:are primarily used to assign device types based on a particular rule. The assignment can be done automatically or manually. When done automatically, the Collector will compare the properties of the device with the existing rules. If it finds a match, it will assign the selected device type to the device. This is done when the device sends data to the Collector for the first time. The assignment can be done based on following properties:

  • Based on source IP address
  • Based on message signing certificate
  • Based on MQTT topic name
  • Based on device ID
  • Based on receiver
  • IP based
  • Certificate based
  • Topic based
  • ID based
  • Manual

The device can be added to a device group by editing its metadata (see Devices and Metadata).
