Examples of Load balancing option
There are a couple of options - Hardware or Software based Load balancer. HW is the preferred of course.
- Usually, the infrastructure/cloud provider provides Load Balancing services.
- Setup a Hardware Load balancer: F5, Cisco, Citrix etc. F5 is quite cheap and offers the desired functionality. Some better switches are supporting the Load balancing as well.
- Setup a SW Load balancer: e.g. vSwitch on VMware, load master on Microsoft Hyper-V etc. These are let's say acceptable solution. Other manually installed and operated SW load balancers are not suitable for the enterprise.
